FETAL Therapy Simulation Course
University College Cork (UCC)
Saturday, 26th September, 2020
Fetal Interventions are becoming increasingly less invasive and require training and experience for optimal results. To this end, we will run a “hands-on” Fetal Therapy Simulation Course in the new state-of-the-art ASSERT Centre in University College Cork on Saturday, September 26th.
This one day program will provide an excellent opportunity to explore fetal intervention techniques in detail, to gain practical “hands on” experience with the instruments in a variety of fetal procedures, and to receive direct and constructive feedback on one’s performance. Our faculty are some of the world’s leading fetal medicine practitioners and the procedures will be performed using lifelike maternal and fetal simulation models. To ensure the quality of the experience and to ensure the opportunity for “hands-on” involvement for all registrants, this course must be limited to 20-24 people, who will be divided into in groups of four. Over recent years, we have run this course at centres in Europe, North & Central America and China and invariably it has been extremely well received. It is suitable for practitioners and trainees who perform complex fetal interventions. Participants will also be able to join an international network of colleagues to allow sharing and discussion of challenging cases in the future.
Workshop sessions will include the following areas:
Fetal Shunts (Chest & Bladder)
Laser Ablation of Anterior & Posterior Placentae
Cord Occlusion: Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA), Bipolar Forceps & Interstitial Laser
Fetoscopic Tracheal Occlusion (FETO) Balloon Removal & Neonatal Airway Management
Interactive group session on complications of fetal procedures
The cost for this day is €1,100 (including three meals)
The course will run from ~ 07:30 – 19:00
